Autorickshaw driver beaten to death in Chattogram, one arrested

A CNG-powered autorickshaw driver was beaten to death in Bayezid area of Chattogram on Wednesday night.

The victim, Khorshed Alam, was attacked in the Amin Jute Mill Midya Para area under Bayezid Bostami Police Station.

According to eyewitnesses, Khorshed got into an argument with three men on the road. The dispute escalated, and the men began pushing him. At one point, he was struck with a stick and fell to the ground. The attackers continued beating him even after he collapsed.

When Khorshed stopped moving, the assailants fled the scene. Although several people were present nearby, none intervened.

Khorshed was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.

Bayezid Bostami Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zahidul Kabir said one suspect was arrested after reviewing CCTV footage shortly after the incident. Police are continuing operations to arrest the remaining suspects.
