The gas crisis in the capital has intensified as reduced supply from the source has driven gas pressure down to its lowest levels.

On Thursday, severe gas shortages continued to plague filling stations across the capital. Owners and drivers of CNG-powered vehicles faced extreme hardship, with many waiting since early morning only to receive gas worth just 20 to 50 taka.

Most filling stations hung "No Gas" signboards, worsening public distress. Due to the shortage of compressed natural gas, many vehicle operators were forced to switch to alternative liquid fuels.

Meanwhile, residents in many areas of the capital reported having no gas at home for most of the day. In several neighborhoods, although stoves could be lit, the pressure was too low to cook food, while residents in other areas complained that gas was completely unavailable.
