


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met with Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain and the chairmen of nine development authorities at the Prime Minister's Office on Sunday, July 5.
Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher MP also attended the meeting.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to build planned, clean, green and livable cities across Bangladesh. Discussions focused on planned urban expansion, improved public services and the progress of ongoing development projects. He instructed the authorities to complete projects as quickly as possible while ensuring transparency, accountability and quality.
During the meeting, CDA Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain briefed the Prime Minister on the progress of development projects in Chattogram. He also presented plans to expand affordable modern housing for low- and middle-income families under the government's priority housing programme. According to the briefing, local and foreign investors, including companies from China, have shown interest in the housing sector.
The CDA chairman also outlined initiatives to develop Chattogram into a planned, green and environmentally friendly city. These include enforcing building regulations, preventing waste disposal in drains, improving water drainage and strengthening implementation of CDA laws.
The meeting was also attended by the chairmen of the development authorities of Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, Khulna, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Cumilla and Narayanganj.
