Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated Police Week-2026 today at the Rajarbagh Police Lines. Under the theme "My Police, My Country, Bangladesh First," the Prime Minister opened the four-day annual event, marking the first Police Week since the BNP government assumed office following the 13th National Parliament elections.

Upon his arrival at 8:56 AM, the Prime Minister was received by Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, and Parade Committee President Additional IGP AKM Awlad Hossain.

The ceremony commenced with the national anthem, followed by a parade inspection. The Prime Minister, aboard an open jeep, took the salute from various police contingents and flag-carrying teams. During the event's background presentation, the historical contributions of late President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia to the modernization of the police force were highlighted.

The annual parade was led by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner Hasan Mohammad Naser Rikabder. The inauguration was attended by cabinet members, lawmakers, and senior civil and military officials. The Police Week programs are scheduled to conclude on May 13.
