Security has been tightened at eight airports across the country, including Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, following a terror alert targeting key installations.
On Monday (April 27), Chairman of the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority, Air Vice Marshal Md. Mustafa Mahmud Siddique, confirmed the development.
Officials said additional security personnel have been deployed at airport entrances, terminals, and sensitive areas. Intelligence surveillance has also been increased.
Acting on a warning from Bangladesh Police Headquarters, the BCAA issued high-alert instructions to all law enforcement units operating at airports.
Search operations have been intensified in both arrival and departure areas. Additional uniformed and plainclothes personnel are on duty, with strict instructions to report any suspicious activity immediately.
Earlier, police headquarters warned of possible sabotage plans by members of a banned extremist group. Potential targets include the National Parliament, law enforcement facilities, places of worship, and major public gathering sites.
Law enforcement agencies say surveillance has been strengthened to prevent any attack, and efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those involved.
