PM Tarique Rahman Unveils Commemorative Stamp for Independence Day

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday morning unveiled a commemorative postage stamp to mark the Great Independence and National Day 2026.

The unveiling took place during a brief ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat office at 9:30 AM. Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon confirmed that the Prime Minister arrived at the Secretariat at 9:02 AM, attending to urgent state files before the ceremony.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Fakir Mahbub Anam, Postal Secretary Abdun Naser Khan, and Director General of Posts Kazi Asadul Islam.

A crucial Cabinet meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, is scheduled for 4:00 PM today. While the Cabinet typically meets on Thursdays, the session was moved forward as Thursday, March 26, is a public holiday.

Bangladesh is preparing to celebrate Independence Day this year with significant public enthusiasm. For the first time in 18 years, the occasion will feature a grand ceremonial parade and fly-past at the National Parade Ground. The event reflects a renewed social and political atmosphere as the nation commemorates its sovereignty.
