


Md. Mostakur Rahman FCMA officially assumed his role as the 14th Governor of Bangladesh Bank on Thursday morning. He arrived at the central bank’s head office at 9:45 am, where he was received by senior officials.
His appointment follows a notification issued by the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, February 25. This move came after the government terminated the remaining contractual term of the previous governor, Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur.
According to the official notification, Md. Mostakur Rahman will serve a four-year term. As part of the appointment conditions, he must sever all professional ties with other institutions. His salary and benefits will be governed by a formal agreement with the government, effective immediately in the public interest.

A Fellow of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), Md. Mostakur Rahman earned his Master’s degree in Accounting from Dhaka University in 1987. Before his current appointment, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE).
