President Md. Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid their respects today to the army personnel martyred in the 2009 Pilkhana massacre.

The leaders placed floral wreaths at the Banani Military Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, observing a moment of solemn silence to honor those killed at the then-BDR headquarters.

In a message marking the day, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated that the motives behind the massacre are becoming clearer to the public in a "fascism-free" Bangladesh. He noted that following the killings, various lies and misinformation were used to mislead the nation.

"The armed forces symbolize the dignity, heroism, and glory of our independent nation," the Prime Minister said. He urged citizens to remain vigilant, calling for a collective oath to prevent future conspiracies against the military.

Concluding his message, the Prime Minister emphasized national unity: "We must stand together against any plot targeting the interests of our country and its people. This should be our primary resolve on this Martyrs' Day."
