


The bodies of six Bangladeshi peacekeepers, who lost their lives in a tragic drone attack while serving under the United Nations mission in Sudan, arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today, Saturday (December 20).
The flight carrying the remains of the fallen heroes landed at 11:05 AM. Airport Executive Director S.M. Ragib Samad confirmed the arrival, where the martyrs were received with solemn state honors.
On December 13, a separatist armed group launched a drone strike on a UN logistics base in the Abyei area of Sudan. The attack resulted in the immediate deaths of six Bangladeshi personnel and injured several others.
The Martyred Heroes: Corporal Md Masud Rana, ASC (Natore), Soldier Md Mominul Islam, Bir (Kurigram), Soldier Shamim Reza, Bir (Rajbari), Soldier Shanta Mondal, Bir (Kurigram), Mess Waiter Mohammad Jahangir Alam (Kishoreganj), Laundry Worker Md Sabuj Mia (Gaibandha)
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), nine other peacekeepers were injured in the strike. They were evacuated to Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. Medical officials confirm they have received advanced care and are now out of danger.
The sacrifice of these peacekeepers has been hailed as a testament to Bangladesh's unwavering commitment to global peace. Formal funeral rites and burials are expected to take place in their respective home districts with full military honors.
