A Yemeni airstrike struck Houthi reinforcements in western Taiz province on Thursday a senior Information Ministry official said.
Fayyad Alnoman the assistant undersecretary at Yemen's Information Ministry, said on X that local sources reported the strike hit Houthi forces at the Al-Dharifah junction in Al-Wazi'iyah district west of Taiz area.
Earlier, Alnoman said clashes had broken out between government troops and Houthi fighters on the Al-Anin and Bilad al-Wafi fronts in Jabal Habashi district also west of Taiz. The Houthis have not commented on either report.
Western Taiz has seen heavy fighting in recent weeks. On Wednesday the government forces said they struck Houthi positions, barracks and personnel on the Al-Kadha front with additional airstrikes hitting Houthi gatherings elsewhere in the region.
Clashes between government forces and the Houthis have escalated since early July, ending a period of relative calm that had held since a UN-brokered truce took effect in April 2022.
Yemen has been at war since the Houthis seized Sanaa and several provinces in September 2014. A Saudi-led coalition intervened in March 2015 to support the internationally recognized government.
