


Bangladesh's National Vitamin A Plus Campaign began in Pabna on Sunday, with health authorities aiming to provide Vitamin A capsules to more than 420,000 children across the district.
The campaign was officially launched at the Pabna Municipality premises by District Commissioner Aminul Islam.
The inauguration was chaired by Municipal Administrator Khairul Islam and attended by Civil Surgeon Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Khairul Kabir, Pabna Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Jannatul Ferdous Baishakhi, Medical Officer Dr. Zahid Kamal, World Health Organization (WHO) representative Dr. Rashedul Bari, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Pabna Unit President Montu Khan, and other health and municipal officials.
According to the district health department, 420,904 children aged 6 to 59 months will receive Vitamin A Plus capsules through 1,948 distribution centers across 74 unions in Pabna's nine upazilas.
Health officials said Vitamin A plays a vital role in strengthening children's immune systems, protecting eyesight, and preventing malnutrition. They urged parents and caregivers to bring eligible children to their nearest designated center to receive the supplement during the campaign.
