Farmers Receive Fish Fry & Seedlings in Paikgachha

Fish fry, fish feed, and tree seedlings were distributed to local farmers in Paikgachha, Khulna, to support household pond cultivation.

The initiative is part of the Department of Fisheries' Union Level Fisheries Technology Service Expansion Project (3rd Phase) for the 2025-26 financial year. The program aims to boost local food production by supporting small-scale household ponds.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury attended as the chief guest, handing over the materials to the beneficiaries at the Upazila Parishad grounds on Saturday noon.

Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Saikat Mallik presided over the event. Special guests included Upazila Agriculture Officer Ekramul Hossain, Family Planning Officer Abdullah Al Mamun, SFDF Officer GM Zakaria, and local BNP President Aslam Parvez. Press Club Vice President Md. Abdul Aziz, local UP members, and the beneficiary farmers were also in attendance.

During the program, six selected fish farmers received monosex tilapia, tengra, and bata fry, alongside fish feed and various fruit and vegetable seedlings to cultivate around their exhibition ponds.
