


Six individuals arrested during anti-drug police operations in Paikgachha, Khulna, have been sentenced to six months in prison each. Police detained the suspects during two separate raids over the past two days.
On Friday afternoon, police arrested Jadu Das (40) for allegedly supplying drugs in the Soladana Bazar area. Following the arrest, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Fazle Rabbi led a mobile court that sentenced Das to six months in prison under the Narcotics Control Act.
Earlier, on Thursday evening, police raided a rented house in the College Para area of Kapilmuni. The operation was led by local police outpost in-charge Monirul Islam. During the raid, six men were caught consuming marijuana: Lipu (30) and Mahin (20) of Haridhali; Md. Riazul Islam (36) and Mortuza Imam (30) of Kashimnagar; Tamim Islam (30) of Nasirpur; and Abdus Salam (28) of Kapilmuni.
Outpost in-charge Monirul Islam confirmed that five of the individuals arrested in the house raid were presented before the Paikgachha Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday. Through a summary trial, the court sentenced each of them to six months in prison.
