Workers from an Azim Group garment factory blocked the Chandgaon C&B intersection in Chattogram on Saturday demanding unpaid wages and overtime allowances.

The blockade began at 11:00 AM, with hundreds of workers taking to the streets. The protest brought traffic to a complete standstill on a major city artery, causing significant hardship for commuters traveling from Kaptai, Raozan, Hathazari, Rangunia, Boalkhali, and Mohra.

For over two hours, passengers—including women, children, and the elderly—remained stranded. Many were forced to abandon vehicles and continue their journeys on foot.

Police units were deployed to the scene to manage the situation. Law enforcement officials are currently negotiating with the workers to clear the road and restore traffic flow.

According to protesting workers, the factory management has yet to clear overtime dues from August and September 2025. They also alleged consistent delays in regular monthly salary payments. With Eid-ul-Azha approaching, the workers are demanding the immediate settlement of all arrears, their Eid bonuses, and half of their May wages.
