Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins has not played any matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing Indian Premier League due to a back injury.
He has returned to Australia from India to undergo a scheduled scan to assess the current condition of the injury. The scan was pre-arranged by Cricket Australia.
Cummins first suffered the back injury in July last year. Despite that, he featured in the The Ashes in December but has played only one match since the injury.
Although not fully fit, Cummins joined the Hyderabad squad for the IPL. However, he has not been cleared to play so far. In his absence, Ishan Kishan is leading the side.
According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the scan will determine whether Cummins can resume playing. If he receives medical clearance, he is expected to rejoin the team on April 17.
