Metro rail services on the Agargaon–Shahbagh section of the MRT Line-6 were suspended again starting at 9:10 PM on Wednesday.
This partial suspension follows a tragic incident on Sunday where a bearing pad fell from pillar number 433 near Farmgate station, instantly killing a pedestrian, Abul Kalam Azad (35).
The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) had earlier in the day assured the public that all safety regulations were being strictly followed and that the service was safe and fully functional, urging passengers to ignore rumors.
Despite the overall suspension on the Agargaon-Shahbagh segment, services continue as usual on the Motijheel–Shahbagh and Uttara–Agargaon sections, according to Ahsanullah Sharifi, Deputy Director (Public Relations) of MRT Line-6.
