Commuters aged 60 and over, alongside individuals with disabilities, will receive a 25% special discount on Dhaka Metro Rail single-journey tickets starting today, May 25, 2026.
The Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) announced the measure in a notification signed by the executive director of the metro rail fare-fixing authority. The concession complies with the provisions of the Metro Rail Act, 2015, and the Metro Rail Rules, 2016.
To benefit from the reduced fare, eligible passengers must present a valid National Identity (NID) card or appropriate official documents proving their special needs status at station ticket counters.
DTCA officials confirmed that the fare cuts are being rolled out under current government regulations to make city transit more inclusive.
