Senior citizens and people with disabilities will receive a 25 percent fare discount on Dhaka metro rail services from Monday.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) announced the concession for passengers aged 65 and above and those with special needs.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam will officially launch the facility at Farmgate Metro Station at 12:30 pm on May 25, according to a DMTCL press release issued by the MRT Line-6 sub-project.
DMTCL said the initiative was introduced under a government decision to improve passenger welfare services.
Passengers aged 65 or above can receive the discount on single-journey tickets by showing a valid national identity card for age verification.
People with disabilities or special needs can also avail the same discount by presenting the “golden” identity card issued under the Ministry of Social Welfare.
