Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed stated on Sunday that the "Reform Council" has no standing under the current Constitution. Speaking to reporters before entering the National Parliament session on March 15, the Minister clarified that the status of the council remains a legal matter currently pending in the High Court.
Minister Ahmed pointed out a key procedural distinction: while the President summoned the National Parliament for its scheduled session, no such summons was issued for a Reform Council.
Addressing the "July Charter," the Home Minister affirmed the government's acceptance of the document but noted that its implementation requires constitutional amendments. "There will be further discussions on how those changes will be integrated," he added.
The Minister also addressed the recent resignations of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker. He clarified that while both officials have stepped down from their specific party leadership positions to ensure parliamentary neutrality, they remain members of their respective political parties.
