


A 15-year-old student, Lia Begum, was killed by a speeding Nasimon (a locally made motorized vehicle) in Char Fasson on Wednesday morning while on her way to an exam. Following the tragic incident, angry classmates and locals blocked Shashibhushan Road to protest and demand justice.
The accident happened in Hazariganj Union. Lia, a 10th-grade student at Chairman Bazar Islamia Alim Madrasa, was the daughter of Md. Shafiqul Islam from Ward No. 4.
Eyewitnesses reported that a speeding Nasimon lost control and struck Lia near Jalil Majhi's house, killing her instantly.
News of her death sparked immediate outrage. Students and residents gathered with the victim's body, halting traffic along the route. Police arrived shortly after to restore order.
Shashibhushan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Ahmed confirmed the incident, stating that the situation is now under control. The driver fled the scene and remains at large.
