


Three people, including an autorickshaw driver, were killed and at least 10 bus passengers injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a battery-powered autorickshaw in Bhola’s Lalmohan upazila on Monday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 2:15pm on January 26 on the Bhola–Char Fashion regional highway, in front of Dr Ahazar Uddin Degree College near Gazaria Bazar.
Two of the deceased were identified as Shilpi Rani, 55, and Tushar Das, 25, residents of the Shashiganj area under Ward No. 5 of Chandpur Union in Tajumuddin upazila. The identity of the autorickshaw driver could not be confirmed immediately.
According to police and local sources, the bus was travelling from Bhola Sadar towards Char Fashion, while the autorickshaw was heading to Lalmohan from Char Fashion with passengers. The vehicles collided head-on, killing the autorickshaw driver and two passengers on the spot.
Following the collision, the bus lost control and overturned into a roadside ditch, injuring at least 10 passengers.
Police, fire service personnel, and local residents rushed to the scene and rescued the injured, who were taken to the local health complex for treatment. Several of the injured were reported to be in serious condition.
Lalmohan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Aliul Islam said police reached the spot within minutes of receiving the report. He confirmed that three people were killed and said legal action would be taken following an investigation into the incident.
