


A three-day training programme for agricultural officials of state-owned sugar mills began on Saturday at Faridpur Sugar Mill in Madhukhali, Faridpur. The programme will continue until Monday.
The training was inaugurated at 10:00 am by AKM Benjamin Riazi, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Chairman (additional charge) of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC).
Speaking as a special guest, BSFIC Chief Executive Officer (CPE) Dr. Zebun Nahar Ferdous highlighted the importance of strengthening the country's sugar industry through improved agricultural practices and professional development.
The programme is being chaired by Faridpur Sugar Mill Managing Director Tarek Farhad, while BSFIC Acting General Manager (Management Training and Development) Selina Akhter is serving as course director.
Among those present were BSFIC General Manager (Mills Farm) Md. Shahidul Islam, General Manager (Seed Inspection) Rawshan Ara Arju, Sugar Mill General Manager (Agriculture) Muhammad Anis Uzzaman, General Manager (Finance) Khondaker Alamgir Hossain, General Manager (Administration) Masud Reza, General Manager (Factory) Pulak Kumar Sarkar, and other officials.
On the first day, participants discussed the importance of professional training, the current state of the sugar industry and measures for its improvement, irrigation management and drought prevention, modern agronomic practices in sugarcane cultivation, identification of sugarcane varieties, the impact of sugar recovery rates, the use of quality seed, and farm management responsibilities.
A total of 30 Deputy Assistant Agricultural Officers, Associate Managers and Deputy Managers from nine sugar mills are participating in the programme.
The training is organised by BSFIC and implemented by Faridpur Sugar Mill. It is scheduled to conclude on Monday afternoon.
