The Bangladesh Coast Guard seized an illegal artisanal trawler and three fishing nets during a targeted drive in Bhola's Char Fashion upazila late Sunday night.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Charmanika Coast Guard Outpost conducted the operation at 10:00 pm in the Meghna River, adjacent to the Samraj Fish Ghat.

Lieutenant Md. Abul Kashem, Media Officer of the Coast Guard South Zone, confirmed the operation. He stated that the confiscated fishing nets have an estimated market value of Tk 1.5 lakh.

No arrests were made during the drive, as the fishermen abandoned the vessel and fled upon sensing the presence of law enforcement.

Authorities are currently initiating official legal procedures regarding the seized boat and illegal fishing equipment.
