BRTA conducts drive against road transport law violations, dumps 7 vehicles

In order to ensure road safety and maintain traffic discipline, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has conducted mobile courts in Khulshi Road and Mansurabad, two important areas of Chattogram metropolis.

Conducted as part of regular supervision, immediate legal action was taken against violators of the road transport law in this drive.

On Wednesday (January 21), BRTA conducted a drive at Mobile Court-12 under the Chittagong Divisional Office from 10 am to 4 pm. Executive Magistrate Fahmida Mustafa led the drive. In this long-lasting drive, the documents, route permits and validity of movement of vehicles were closely checked on the busy roads of the city.

During the drive, 2 cases were filed on charges of violating the road transport law and 3 thousand taka was collected as a fine. In addition, 7 vehicles were dumped as some human haulers were operating in violation of the conditions of the prescribed route permit. The dumped vehicles include Chatta Metro-F-11-1673, Chatta Metro-F-11-2536, Chatta Metro-F-11-2675, Chatta Metro-F-11-2283, Chatta Metro-F-11-1998, Chatta Metro-F-11-0286 and Chatta Metro-F-11-2690.

Executive Magistrate Fahmida Mustafa said that illegal and undisciplined vehicle movement in different areas of the city is one of the causes of road accidents. Especially, when human haulers operate in violation of the conditions of the route permit, it poses a serious risk to passenger safety and traffic. For this reason, a strict stance has been taken to stop these irregularities by conducting regular campaigns. Such mobile courts and operations will continue in the future to restore order on the roads and ensure safe travel for ordinary passengers. They also warned that no leniency will be given to lawbreakers.
