A celebratory event turned into chaos on Friday night as the highly anticipated concert of rock legend James (Nagar Baul) was cancelled due to a violent attack by outsiders. The incident occurred during the closing ceremony of the 185th anniversary of Faridpur Zilla School, leaving at least 25 people injured.

The concert was scheduled to begin at 9:30 PM on the school premises. Tensions escalated when a group of outsiders, denied entry to the venue, began hurling bricks and stones at the stage and students. Witnesses reported that the attackers attempted to take over the stage, leading to a clash with students who tried to resist the intrusion.

At approximately 10:00 PM, Dr. Mustafizur Rahman Shamim, convener of the organizing committee, announced the cancellation of the show following direct orders from the Faridpur District Commissioner to ensure public safety.

Rajibul Hasan Khan, convener of the media sub-committee, expressed disappointment, stating that 15 to 20 students were among those injured by the brickbats.

The two-day celebration, marking nearly two centuries of the historic school’s legacy, was intended to end with a grand cultural performance and raffle draw before the violence erupted.
