

A memorial meeting and prayer session was held in Bheramara, Kushtia, on Monday to mark the first death anniversary of respected educator Matiur Rahman Khan.
The programme was held at 8pm at the hall room of the Upazila Shilpakala Academy, organised by Bheramara Pathchakra and Batch 89.
Muhammad Anwar-ul-Azim, president of Bheramara Pathchakra and former headteacher of Bheramara High School, chaired the memorial meeting and prayer programme.
Among the guests were retired principal of Bheramara Government Women’s College Abdur Razzak Raja; Pathchakra Secretary Binod Kumar Biswas; former president of Bheramara Press Club Jahangir Hossain Jewel; Assistant Professor of English at Bheramara Government College Mostafizur Rahman Shamim; Headteacher of Haji Wazed Ali Secondary School Abdul Hai Siddiqui; and poets Mozammel Haque, A.S.M. Shahabuddin and Shahinur Halim.
The programme was moderated by Anisur Rahman, a lecturer at Bheramara Government College.
Others present included Matiur Rahman Khan’s daughters Kanan Ara Parvin Tia and Jahanara Parvin Rikta; poets Sharifuzzaman Quddus and Hosne-Ara Parvin; Faizul Aziz; Jubo Dal leader and SSC Batch 89 student Sultan Ali; Lal Shan; Mohir Uddin; Liton; Bheramara Shilpakala Academy’s Comrade Anwar Hossain Bablu; Rokunuzzaman Runu; Saiful Islam; poet Jahangir Alam; and Tota, among others.
The programme concluded with a prayer and munajat led by Pathchakra member Jahangir Alam.
