Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed called on government officials to remain completely free from political bias and serve the public with integrity and professionalism. Speaking at a workshop for National Public Service Day 2026, he stressed that the civil service must abandon the politicization of the past 17 years and prioritize public service over ruling.

He also highlighted the need for urgent reforms within the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), revealing that critical national data—including population census figures, agricultural production, and per capita income—were politically distorted during the previous regime. Economically, he directed officials to prioritize agriculture and remittances to strengthen the nation's financial foundation.

ACC Raids Flats of Former Land Minister in Wealth Probe The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has begun a court-ordered inventory of two Gulshan apartments owned by former Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed. This action is part of a massive, ongoing investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering.

Courts have already ordered the seizure of hundreds of Javed’s properties across the US, UK, UAE, and several Asian countries, alongside freezing 39 bank accounts. The ACC estimates his illicit overseas assets and investments to be worth approximately Tk 23.21 billion and £271.85 million. Javed has denied the allegations, claiming the assets were acquired through legitimate business and calling the probe "politically motivated".

High Court Stays Fraud Case Against City Group Chairman The High Court has stayed all proceedings and arrest warrants against the Chairman of City Group and four others. The fraud case was initially filed by a former director of Somoy Television, who alleged the accused misappropriated Tk 53.46 million in unpaid advertisement bills. The stay order pauses the enforcement of arrest warrants issued earlier this month by a Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate.

New Environmental Initiative Launched in Manikganj Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam inaugurated the “One Child, One Tree” program at a primary school in Manikganj Sadar. The initiative aims to foster environmental consciousness in youth and build a greener, more sustainable Bangladesh for future generations.
