Prime Minister Tarique Rahman urged the Special Security Force (SSF) today not to let security cordons distance him from the public, emphasizing that public trust and affection remain his greatest source of strength.
Speaking at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in Tejgaon to mark the SSF's 40th founding anniversary, the premier asked the force to balance its mandate for VIP protection with the need for public accessibility.
"As the head of government, my greatest reliance is on the trust and love of the people," Rahman said. "I urge you to pay special attention so that the security perimeter does not push the head of government away from the people."
While acknowledging the SSF's critical responsibilities as a modern and advanced force, the prime minister specifically cautioned personnel against alienating citizens while on duty.
"You must give the highest priority to the security of important persons," he told the SSF members. "However, while performing your duties, you must also remain particularly careful so that the public does not become victims of misbehaviour."
