LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today directed authorities to complete ongoing development projects under the Local Government Division (LGD) swiftly, cost-effectively, and with a focus on public benefit.
Speaking at a progress review meeting at the Secretariat, the minister emphasized that public welfare is the primary goal of all government activities. He warned officials that not a single penny of public money should be wasted.
"Every project is funded by the people. Therefore, transparency, accountability, and punctuality must be ensured," the minister stated, adding that project costs must remain within reasonable limits.
He noted that while successful development projects enhance the government's image, any negligence or irregularity could damage the ministry's reputation. He urged project directors to be more responsible in their duties.
The minister also called for modern and sustainable planning to improve public services and stressed the importance of meeting deadlines.
The meeting, chaired by LGD Secretary Shahidul Hasan, included detailed discussions on expenditure management and future work plans for city corporations and other local bodies.
