An oil tanker anchored near the United Arab Emirates' strategic port of Fujairah was struck by an "unknown projectile" late Monday, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

The incident occurred approximately 23 nautical miles east of Fujairah in the Gulf of Oman. While the vessel sustained minor structural damage, the UKMTO confirmed there were no injuries to the crew or reports of environmental damage.

Fujairah serves as a critical global energy hub, providing an export route that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz. The regional security situation has remained tense, with the Strait of Hormuz experiencing significant disruptions following the outbreak of conflict involving Iran.

In a separate but related incident on Tuesday, Fujairah authorities reported that emergency teams are working to contain a fire at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone. The blaze was triggered by a drone strike at the facility; however, no casualties have been reported.

This latest strike adds to a growing list of maritime incidents. According to UKMTO data, at least 21 vessels have been targeted in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman since the current escalation of regional hostilities began.
