The Russian Ministry of Defence announced on Sunday that its forces have seized two additional villages in the southern Zaporizhzhia region: Rivnopillia and Mala Tokmachka.
The claims come as Russian troops continue a slow but steady advance in southern Ukraine, where they reportedly hold an advantage in equipment and numbers over Ukrainian forces.
While the Zaporizhzhia front is less active, the most intense fighting remains on the eastern front. Here, the focus is the strategic logistical hub of Pokrovsk, which Russian soldiers have been infiltrating in recent weeks, placing pressure on Ukrainian defenses. The conflict continues amidst a political deadlock, with peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow stalled. A planned summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest also failed to take place.
