Police have filed a sabotage case against 72 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League, Chhatra League, and Jubo League in Sitakunda, Chittagong. Authorities have named 37 individuals in the case and listed 35 as unidentified suspects. Three people have been arrested so far.

Sub-Inspector Dhantosh Chakma of the Faujdarhat Police Outpost filed the case at the Sitakunda Model Police Station on Saturday night (June 6).

According to the case statement, leaders and activists of the banned organizations staged a sudden procession on Friday afternoon (June 5) along the port-bound road near DC Park in South Salimpur. Participants allegedly chanted slogans and attempted organized sabotage to incite public panic.

Following an inspection of the scene, police recovered shell casings and remnants of an exploded crude bomb (locally known as a cocktail). During a subsequent raid, officers arrested Syed Ashraf, Saifuddin Sikder Parvez, and Ashraful Islam.

The suspects face charges of conspiracy against the state, disturbing public safety, and engaging in subversive activities.

Sitakunda Model Police Station Investigation Officer Mohammad Alamgir confirmed the arrests and stated that operations to apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing.
