A fire that broke out at the Chittagong Customs Auction Shed on Thursday morning has been successfully contained, with no immediate reports of major damage.
The fire started at approximately 8:45 a.m. in the auction shed, located near the stadium outside the Chittagong Port's protected area. To prevent the flames from spreading to nearby port facilities, the Bangladesh Navy, Chittagong Port Fire Service, and the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense immediately launched a joint response.
Chittagong Port Authority Secretary Md. Nasir Uddin confirmed that the combined task force brought the fire under control by 9:30 a.m.
"The situation is currently normal, and there is no major risk," Uddin stated.
Authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the exact extent of the damage. Port operations in the protected area remain unaffected.
