Police arrested two men and seized a large shipment of banned Chinese fishing nets (locally known as Current Jal) during a midnight raid in Mohanganj Municipality on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Hafizul Islam Harun intercepted a mini-truck at approximately 12:00 AM. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered illegal nets with an estimated market value of ৳7,92,000.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sohel Ahmed (32), son of Kazali from Dharmapasha, Sunamganj, and the truck driver, Sabuj (40), son of Afzal Sheikh from Bera, Pabna.

OC Hafizul Islam Harun confirmed that a regular case is being filed at Mohanganj Police Station. "The accused will be produced before the court shortly. Our drive against illegal fishing gear will continue to protect our aquatic resources," he stated.
