Porsha Police have arrested three members of an inter-district robbery gang during a series of raids in neighboring Chapainawabganj.
Acting on a tip-off, police first arrested Durul Hoda (55), son of the late Taimur Ali, from his home in Jashail village, Gomostapur Upazila, on Friday night. Based on information obtained from Hoda, officers conducted a follow-up operation on Saturday night in Sagaril village, arresting Anesur Rahman (34) and Tutul (37).
During the arrests, police seized a smartphone, 4,500 BDT in cash, and tools used in robberies, including an axe and a hammer.
Porsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ziaur Rahman stated that the arrests stem from a robbery on January 17 near the Moshantala-Dhuladanga road in Tentulia Union. Following the incident, a specialized team—acting under the direction of Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tariqul Islam—tracked the suspects to Gomostapur.
The OC confirmed that the suspects confessed to their involvement during initial interrogation. He added that the District Police Superintendent has issued standing orders to all stations to intensify patrols and eliminate organized crime on regional highways.
