Police arrested four alleged drug dealers and seized Indian Tapentadol tablets during two separate raids in Porsha on Friday night. Two motorcycles used for transporting the drugs were also confiscated.
In the first raid, police apprehended Tariqul Islam Tarek (25) from the Kalaibari area. A second operation in a mango orchard in Ghatnagar Union led to the arrest of Dilip Babu (19), Rashedul Islam (22), Nuruzzaman (36), and A. Roych (26).
A total of 29 Tapentadol tablets, two unregistered motorcycles, and cash were seized during the operations.
Porsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ziaur Rahman confirmed that the raids were part of a nationwide anti-drug campaign.
Two cases have been filed under the Narcotics Control Act, and the suspects were sent to jail on Saturday. The OC added that such drives will continue to keep the area drug-free.
