


The body of a seven-year-old boy was recovered from a cornfield in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur on Friday night. His family suspects he was murdered.
The deceased, Sirajul Al Shams, was the son of Mominul Islam of the area. He was a second-grade student at Aftabganj Child Care School.
Police and local sources said Sirajul went missing after iftar. Family members searched nearby areas. Around 8:30pm, locals found him lying in a cornfield next to Amrul Bari Dangapara Madrasa.
He had severe injuries on different parts of his body, including deep wounds on his leg and neck. He was taken to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Family members alleged that the child was killed in a planned attack. Police said the exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem.
Abdul Latif Shah, Officer-in-Charge of Phulbari Police Station, said the incident falls under the jurisdiction of Nawabganj Police Station and necessary legal steps are being taken.
The body will be handed over to police after autopsy. The incident has created panic and grief in the area.
