


Police have arrested five people with country-made weapons while they were allegedly preparing to commit a robbery in Chattogram city.
The arrests were made on Wednesday (February 26) during a special operation by the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) in the Kotwali Police Station area, based on secret information.
According to police sources, Sub-Inspector Abdullah Al Noman of Kotwali Police Station received intelligence while on duty that an organised gang was preparing for a robbery in the Teribazar area. Acting on the information, police conducted an immediate raid and arrested five suspects at the scene along with weapons.
The arrested individuals are Saddam Hossain (28), Md Masud (23), Md Shahabuddin (35), Md Ibrahim alias Roni Biswas (35), and Md Ismail (26). Police said they are permanent residents of different areas in Chattogram and Cumilla districts and were living in various parts of Chattogram city.
During the operation, police recovered two knives and one anti-cutter, which were allegedly intended for use in the robbery. During initial interrogation, the suspects admitted their involvement in preparing for the crime, police said.
A case has been filed at Kotwali Police Station under Case No. 43, Sections 399 and 402 of the Penal Code. Police sources said the accused have multiple previous cases related to theft, robbery, and robbery preparation in CMP and other police stations in Chattogram district.
Police said such operations will continue to maintain law and order in the city.
