A youth was allegedly beaten and electrocuted to death over a suspected theft in Chittagong’s Kotwali area. Tensions escalated shortly after when an angry mob blocked the police vehicle attempting to recover the body.

The incident occurred inside the gates of the Railway Public High School, near the city's Polo Ground, on Sunday (June 21) afternoon. Police have not yet identified the victim.

According to local sources and law enforcement, the youth was caught and beaten by a crowd after being accused of stealing. During the assault, he was reportedly subjected to a fatal electric shock and died at the scene.

When Kotwali Police arrived to recover the body, the crowd surrounded their vehicle, creating a tense standoff in the area.

The Kotwali Police Station duty officer confirmed the incident, noting that senior officials have visited the scene. An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances of the death and identify those involved.
