A protest march was held by the initiative of the Santhia Upazila branch of Chhtra Shibir in protest against the postponement of the Shahjalal Science and Technology University Central Students' Union elections and demanding the immediate implementation of Shaksu. The procession started in front of Santhia Girls' High School after Asr on Thursday and ended with a short rally by walking along the main roads of the upazila.
The rally was presided over by Mehedi Hasan, President of the Upazila Chhtra Shibir. It was conducted by the Secretary of the Upazila Shibir, Safayat Ullah.
In his speech as the chief guest, District Office Secretary Abul Basar said that national elections are ahead. BNP knows very well that if the student union elections are held in Shabipra on January 20 and the Chhtra Dal is defeated there, their political bankruptcy will become clear to the countrymen. To avoid this shameful defeat, they are conspiring to postpone the Shaksu elections. They do not want to ensure a fair political environment and the rights of ordinary students in the university.
In the president's speech, district office secretary Abul Basar said that Chhatra Shibir has taken to the field to achieve the rights of students and they will continue the movement until Shaksu is implemented. At this time, former president of Chhatra Shibir Santhia Upazila Muhtasim Billah Saad, former president Shikhan Molla and others also spoke.
Students including leaders from different levels of Chhatra Shibir Santhia Upazila participated in the protest march.
