A man was allegedly beaten to death by his elder brother following a domestic dispute in Santhia Upazila of Pabna.

The victim, Shahin (30), son of Rawshan Ali from Rauti village in Dhulauri Union, died on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment.

Local sources said Rawshan Ali’s two sons, Babul and Shahin, lived in separate households. The elder son, Babul, was responsible for supporting their father.

The dispute began last Saturday afternoon when Babul’s wife served food to Rawshan Ali. Shahin reportedly argued with his sister-in-law, claiming the portion of food served to his father was insufficient.

The argument escalated when Babul and his son intervened. During the altercation, they allegedly beat Shahin with sticks, leaving him critically injured.

Relatives rescued Shahin and rushed him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. As his condition worsened, doctors recommended he be moved to Dhaka for advanced care.

Tragically, while being transported to Dhaka, the family briefly returned home to Rauti village to collect funds for his treatment. Shahin’s condition deteriorated further, and he passed away at his residence on Wednesday night.

Abdul Latif, Inspector (Investigation) of Santhia Police Station, confirmed that the body has been sent to the Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Legal proceedings and the filing of a formal case are currently underway.
