The Advisory Council of the Interim Government has approved the list of public holidays for 2026. Many people do not get the opportunity to spend their vacations due to the time spent on personal and family activities during weekends in their busy lives. However, when a weekend coincides with a public holiday, it creates an opportunity to travel or make other plans.

Now, there is good news for government employees who are waiting for such an opportunity.

According to the notification, there will be a total of 28 public holidays in 2026. Out of these, 9 days are weekly holidays on Fridays and Saturdays. As a result, the effective public holidays stand at 19 days.

In addition, five days are scheduled for Muslims, nine days for Hindus, eight days for Christians, seven days for Buddhists, and two days for employees of minority ethnic groups as optional holidays.

Below are the possible opportunities for consecutive holidays in 2026 by month:

February Subject to the sighting of the moon, the holy Shabe Barat holiday has been scheduled for February 4, which may fall on a Wednesday, according to the executive order. In this case, if you take a day off on February 5 (Thursday), you will get four consecutive days of vacation by adding the weekly holidays of February 6 and 7.

And since March 26 is the Great Independence and National Day, the weekly holidays of March 27 and 28 will be added to it. As a result, by taking a day off on March 25 (Wednesday) or March 29 (Sunday), you will get four consecutive days of vacation. Even if you do not take any vacation, you will get a three-day break.
