The Advisory Council of the Interim Government has approved the list of public holidays for 2026. Many people do not get the opportunity to spend their vacations due to the time spent on personal and family activities during weekends in their busy lives. However, when a weekend coincides with a public holiday, it creates an opportunity to travel or make other plans.

Now, there is good news for government employees who are waiting for such an opportunity.

According to the notification, there will be a total of 28 public holidays in 2026. Out of these, 9 days are weekly holidays on Fridays and Saturdays. As a result, the effective public holidays stand at 19 days.

In addition, five days are scheduled for Muslims, nine days for Hindus, eight days for Christians, seven days for Buddhists, and two days for employees of minority ethnic groups as optional holidays.

Below are the possible opportunities for consecutive holidays in 2026 by month:

February Subject to the sighting of the moon, the holy Shabe Barat holiday has been scheduled for February 4, which may fall on a Wednesday, according to the executive order. In this case, if you take a day off on February 5 (Thursday), you will get four consecutive days of vacation by adding the weekly holidays of February 6 and 7.

March You will get the opportunity to have a long vacation by managing a short vacation in March. Subject to the sighting of the moon, there will be a general holiday for the holy Eid-ul-Fitr on March 21. The four-day vacation before and after Eid will be added to the executive order, making a total of five days of vacation.

In addition, the holy Shabe Qadr holiday is scheduled for March 17, subject to the sighting of the moon. At this time, government employees can enjoy seven consecutive days of vacation by taking a day off on March 18.

And since March 26 is the Great Independence and National Day, the weekly holidays of March 27 and 28 will be added to it. As a result, by taking a day off on March 25 (Wednesday) or March 29 (Sunday), you will get four consecutive days of vacation. Even if you do not take any vacation, you will get a three-day break.

April There is a five-day vacation opportunity in April. Weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday on April 10 and 11 and a general holiday on Pahela Baishakh on April 14. In between, if you take two days off on April 12 and 13, you will get five consecutive days of vacation.

May May has the longest vacation opportunity. The general holiday for the holy Eid-ul-Azha is scheduled for May 28, subject to moon sighting. Before Eid, there will be holidays on May 26 and 27 and after that, holidays will be on May 29, 30 and 31 by executive order.

Since there were weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday on May 22 and 23, if you take two days off on May 24 and 25, you can enjoy a long vacation of 10 consecutive days, including weekly holidays, executive order holidays and Eid holidays.

August There are two consecutive four-day vacations in August.

There will be a general holiday on August 5 (Wednesday) on the July Uprising Day. If you take a day off on August 6 (Thursday), you will get four consecutive days of vacation by adding the weekly holidays of August 7 and 8.

In addition, depending on the sighting of the moon, there may be a holiday on the holy Eid Milad-un-Nabi on August 26 (Wednesday). In this case, if you take a day off on August 27 (Thursday), you will get four consecutive days of vacation by adding the weekly holidays of August 28 and 29.
