


In a targeted late-night operation, the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) arrested 17 individuals, including young men and women, from a residential hotel in the city.
The raid took place at the Taj Mahal Hotel, located in the Telipara area under the jurisdiction of the Basan Police Station, at approximately 12:15 am on Tuesday.
According to police sources, the group includes hotel management, staff, and several individuals allegedly involved in "immoral activities." Arrests including Hotel Manager Md. Shakil Ahmed (38) and staff members Md. Badsha Mia (25) and Md. Sabuj (23).
Also Seven men and seven women hailing from various districts across Bangladesh, including Gazipur, Sherpur, Dinajpur, Gaibandha, Manikganj, Pabna, Bagerhat, Lakshmipur, Sylhet, Patuakhali, Lalmonirhat, and Tangail.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Basan Police Station, Md. Harun-ur Rashid, confirmed that the raid was executed based on specific confidential information regarding ongoing antisocial activities at the establishment.
Following the arrests, the police officially registered regular cases against all 17 individuals. Authorities have indicated that such drives against residential hotels involved in illegal or antisocial practices will continue to maintain law and order in the metropolitan area.
