A swimming training programme for children under the age of 14 has been launched in Lakshmipur under the Directorate of Sports’ Annual Sports Programme for 2026–27.
The programme has been organised by the Lakshmipur District Sports Office with the overall support of the Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila Sports Association.
Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kathowai Prue Marma attended the inauguration as the chief guest.
The event was chaired by Main Uddin Milki, who is serving as the Lakshmipur district sports officer in an additional capacity. Special guests included Advocate Mohsin Kabir Swapan, member-secretary of the District Sports Association, and Mosharraf Hossain, who is serving as deputy superintendent of the Government Children’s Family in Lakshmipur in an additional capacity.
The programme is expected to help children improve their swimming skills, encourage regular participation in sports and create opportunities to develop promising young swimmers.
Swimming instruction may also help reduce the risk of water-related accidents and drowning by teaching children essential skills for staying safe in the water.
As part of the Directorate of Sports’ annual programme, the initiative is expected to promote swimming at the local level and encourage greater participation in sports among children and adolescents.
