The Special Response Battalion (SRB) seized a locally made LG gun and two cartridges from an abandoned bag during an operation in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram.
SRB-7 disclosed the information in a press release issued on Wednesday, October 14.
According to the release, the weapons and ammunition were recovered at around 8pm on Tuesday, October 13, near the New Bridge area on the Chattogram-Khagrachhari highway in Farhadabad.
SRB-7 said it received confidential information that a person was carrying illegal firearms and standing beside the highway. A team subsequently launched an operation in the area.
During the operation, the individual allegedly dropped a white plastic bag and fled. A search of the surrounding area led the team to the abandoned bag, which was found between two tree trunks. A search of the bag revealed a locally made LG gun and two red cartridges, which were seized.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, assistant director (media) of SRB-7, said the seized firearm and cartridges had been handed over to Hathazari Model Police Station for further legal action.
