Local residents, students and community leaders staged a human chain and protest rally in Gazipur’s Gacha area to condemn the brutal attack on Hasan Mohammad Sharif founding director of Zainul Abedin Memorial High School and son of a freedom fighter.
The assault was allegedly orchestrated by notorious local drug syndicates led by figures known as "Yaba Russell" and the "Ghartyara Jasim gang" after Sharif actively protested local drug peddling in Ward No. 32. Responding to the case filed over the incident, Gacha Police Station authorities confirmed that four individuals have been arrested while efforts continue to apprehend other suspects.
Speakers at the protest expressed grave concern over the rising menace of narcotics and warning that unchecked drug abuse is destroying the youth and threatening social stability. They emphasized that law enforcement alone cannot eradicate the problem and called for collective social resistance involving families, educational institutions and conscious citizens.
Participants urged the administration to take strict legal measures against the attackers and intensify anti-drug drives to restore safety and secure the future of the younger generation.
