A garment-making training course has been launched in Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila to improve the skills of unemployed young men and women seeking employment and create opportunities for self-employment.
The programme has been organised by the Department of Youth Development in Lakshmipur Sadar under its non-formal skills development training initiative.
Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kathowai Prue Marma inaugurated the course.
The event was chaired by Md Saleh Uddin, deputy director of the Department of Youth Development in Lakshmipur. Nizam Uddin Sohel, youth development officer of Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila, and other concerned individuals were also present.
The training will give unemployed young men and women seeking work an opportunity to acquire practical garment-making skills. Participants will be able to use their newly acquired knowledge to pursue self-employment, establish small businesses or seek jobs at garment-making establishments.
Such training programmes are expected to play an important role in developing a skilled workforce among young people and reducing unemployment.
