


A local leader of the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal was shot in the leg, allegedly by political rivals, in the capital's Kadamtali area on Wednesday evening.
The victim, 28-year-old Md Rony, is the general secretary of the Dhaka Match unit of Sramik Dal under Ward 59. Rony, who also runs a local wood shop, was returning home around 5:30 pm when he was attacked at the New Colony Rail Line Bazar.
According to his cousin, Md Hasan, a group of unidentified men opened fire on Rony to establish dominance in the neighborhood. Rony was hit above his left knee and was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at approximately 7:30 pm.
Inspector Md Faruk, head of the DMCH police camp, confirmed that doctors have successfully removed a bullet from Rony’s leg. He is currently undergoing treatment and is in stable condition.
Local police have been notified of the shooting, and legal proceedings against the attackers are underway.
