The historic 'Zia Mancha' (Zia Stage), located on the eastern side of the Lakshmipasha Adarsha School grounds in Lohagara, Narail has fallen into a dilapidated state due to years of neglect, prompting local BNP leaders to demand its immediate restoration.
The permanent stage was established to commemorate late President Ziaur Rahman's historic visit to Lohagara on November 2, 1979 where he addressed a large public gathering. The venue holds significant importance in the region's political history.
Over time however lack of maintenance has caused the bricks and plaster to crumble. Local activists express concern that the deteriorating site is losing its historical character and that the younger generation risks forgetting its significance.
Tipu Sultan the Organizing Secretary of the Narail District BNP urged relevant government authorities to take immediate steps to renovate and preserve the site. He stated that proper restoration would ensure the landmark also associated with the memory of the former president is preserved for future generations.
