The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 25 leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations in a coordinated operation across Dhaka over the last 24 hours.

The detainees are accused of organizing unauthorized gatherings and attempting to resume political programs that are currently prohibited by authorities in the capital. The arrests were made in connection with them allegedly bringing out sudden processions.

Deputy Commissioner of DB (Media) of DMP, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, confirmed the arrests and the charges.

DB officials emphasized that they will continue to enforce strict measures against any group violating the ban on political activities, reiterating that maintaining public order and security is their top priority.

The arrested individuals are currently undergoing interrogation, and further legal action is expected following the initial investigations.

These arrests reflect the ongoing enforcement of the ban on political activities in the capital and come amidst heightened security measures in Dhaka.
